Blastoise
Blastoise (Japanese: カメックス Kamex) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series. It evolves from Wartortle starting at level 36, making it the final form of Squirtle. Blastoise has two additional forms: Mega Blastoise and Gigantamax Blastoise. It can Mega Evolve using the Blastoisinite and can Gigantamax if it has the Gigantamax Factor. Gigantamax Blastoise was introduced in the expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield, The Isle of Armor. Blastoise is the mascot of Pokémon Blue and appears on the box art for both the Japanese and international versions of the game.

Blastoise's backstory is tied closely to its evolutionary line. It begins life as Squirtle, a small turtle Pokémon, and evolves into Wartortle at level 16. Upon reaching level 36, Wartortle evolves into Blastoise. Throughout its evolution, Blastoise undergoes significant physical transformations, including the development of powerful water cannons on its back. These cannons are a key feature of Blastoise's design and abilities, setting it apart from its pre-evolved forms. The evolution from Squirtle to Blastoise signifies growth from a basic aquatic creature to a formidable and strategic battler.
In the Pokémon world, Blastoise plays a significant role as both a powerful battler and a leader. It is known for its impressive strength and defensive capabilities, making it a popular choice among Pokémon trainers. In the anime, Blastoise has been depicted leading groups of Squirtle and Wartortle, demonstrating its natural leadership qualities. Its appearances in games and media often highlight its role as a protector and a strategic fighter, utilizing its water cannons for both offensive and defensive maneuvers.
Blastoise's characteristics and abilities are notable for their emphasis on power and precision. It is a large, bipedal turtle with a tough brown shell and a blue body. The most distinctive feature of Blastoise is the pair of water cannons protruding from its shell, capable of producing high-pressure water blasts that can pierce steel and concrete. These cannons enable Blastoise to perform high-speed charges akin to a rocket. In its Mega Evolved form, Blastoise gains additional cannons on its arms and a larger central cannon on its back, increasing its combat capabilities. As Gigantamax Blastoise, it transforms into an even larger form with numerous cannons and enhanced firepower. Blastoise's abilities emphasize its role as a powerhouse in battle, capable of overwhelming opponents with sheer force and strategic water-based attacks.
