Eevee's backstory is rooted in its genetic versatility, which allows it to evolve into eight different forms, collectively referred to as "Eeveelutions." In Generation I, Eevee could evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon when exposed to a Water Stone, Thunder Stone, or Fire Stone, respectively. Subsequent generations introduced additional evolutionary methods: high friendship levels during the day or night could evolve Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon, proximity to specific rocks or exposure to new elemental stones could evolve it into Leafeon or Glaceon, and learning a Fairy-type move combined with high friendship could evolve it into Sylveon.

In the Pokémon world, Eevee plays a significant role as both a starter Pokémon and a mascot. It is the player's first Pokémon in games like Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. In Pokémon Yellow, Eevee was intended to be the player's starter Pokémon but was instead taken by Blue. Eevee is also featured in spin-off titles such as Pokémon Café Mix, where it serves as the first Pokémon employee, and Pokémon Conquest, where it is the player's initial partner.

Eevee is characterized by its small, quadrupedal, mammalian form with primarily brown fur, cream-colored accents on its tail and collar, and expressive brown eyes. Its genetic structure is irregularly shaped and highly adaptable, enabling its diverse evolutionary potential. Eevee's abilities include the unique Z-Move Extreme Evoboost and, in its Gigantamax form, the G-Max Move G-Max Cuddle. Gigantamax Eevee is distinguished by its larger, fluffier appearance and playful demeanor, often overwhelming opponents with its size. Additionally, the partner Eevee variant features higher base stats and exclusive moves, further emphasizing Eevee's versatility and importance in the Pokémon franchise.
