Meowth

Meowth (Japanese: ニャース Nyarth) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series. It evolves into Persian starting at level 28. In addition to its standard form, Meowth has regional forms in Alola and Galar, which are Dark-type and Steel-type respectively. In Alola, Meowth evolves into Alolan Persian with high friendship, while in Galar, it evolves into Perrserker at level 28. Additionally, certain Kantonian Meowth can Gigantamax, giving them a unique form and abilities.

Meowth's backstory is rooted in its urban environment, where it is known to wander city streets at night in search of shiny objects. It has a keen interest in anything that sparkles, which is tied to its ability to use the move Pay Day, generating coins. Alolan Meowth's introduction to royalty in Alola led to its distinct evolution and temperament, while Galarian Meowth's transformation was influenced by its seafaring lifestyle, resulting in its hardened, iron-like body.

In the Pokémon world, Meowth plays a significant role both in the games and the animated series. In the anime, a specific Meowth is a notable member of Team Rocket, capable of human speech and often walking on two legs, a rare trait for its species. This particular Meowth is known for its cleverness and mischief, often devising plans to capture Pikachu and other Pokémon. In the games, Meowth is recognized for its ability to Gigantamax, further highlighting its unique place within the Pokémon universe.

Meowth is characterized by its cream-colored fur, ovoid head, and a distinctive gold coin embedded in its forehead. Its ability to walk on hind legs, although usually depicted in the games, is not natural to all Meowth. Its playful yet fickle nature, combined with a high level of intelligence, sets it apart from many other Pokémon. The regional forms of Meowth reflect different adaptations and appearances: Alolan Meowth's light blue-gray fur and curved whiskers signify its royal past, while Galarian Meowth's shaggy, iron-hardened body and beard-like fur indicate its rugged lifestyle. Gigantamax Meowth becomes significantly larger, with a glowing gold coin and an increased attraction to shiny objects, demonstrating its enhanced abilities and power.
