Magnemite
Magnemite (Japanese: コイル Coil) is a dual-type Electric/Steel Pokémon introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series. Initially, it was a pure Electric-type Pokémon until the release of Generation II, which introduced the Steel typing. Magnemite evolves into Magneton starting at level 30, and Magneton can further evolve into Magnezone when exposed to a special magnetic field or a Thunder Stone.

Magnemite's backstory is intertwined with the history of the Pokémon world. Despite its mechanical and modern appearance, Magnemite has been present for at least 3,000 years, as evidenced by carvings found at the Ruins of Alph and depictions in historical recounts such as AZ's retelling of the Kalos war. This suggests that Magnemite has long been a part of the world's ecosystem, thriving in environments rich in electrical and magnetic energy, such as power plants and magnetized caves.
In the Pokémon world, Magnemite plays a unique role. It is often found in areas with significant electrical activity, where it feeds on electrical currents. Its presence in power plants and its occasional interactions with electrical equipment highlight its affinity for electricity. Magnemite is known to approach trainers without much notice but tends to flee if not engaged. It has been featured in various Pokémon games, anime episodes, and merchandise, making it a familiar face to fans of the series.
Magnemite is characterized by its spherical metal body, which features blue-and-red tipped horseshoe magnets on either side and a single large eye. It has three screws on its body, with one on top resembling an antenna. Magnemite's abilities are centered around its magnetic properties. It can generate electromagnetic fields that allow it to levitate and disrupt electronic devices. While not inherently aggressive, Magnemite will defend itself if attacked, using non-damaging moves. In battle, it can be a formidable opponent, utilizing moves that exploit its Electric and Steel typings. If it runs out of electricity, Magnemite can be recharged using batteries.
