Necrozma
Necrozma (Japanese: ネクロズマ Necrozma) is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VII of the Pokémon series. Notably, Necrozma does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon but can transform into three distinct forms: Dusk Mane Necrozma, Dawn Wings Necrozma, and Ultra Necrozma. It serves as the game mascot for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, depicted in its Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings forms on the respective game covers.
Necrozma's backstory reveals it as a being from Ultra Space, capable of traveling through Ultra Wormholes. Once a radiant entity that gave light, Necrozma lost this ability after a catastrophic injury inflicted by the ancestors of the Ultra Recon Squad. This event shattered Necrozma into its current form, causing it to become a desperate and violent creature in search of light to regain its original state. Its association with the guardian deities and the Ultra Beasts, despite being classified differently, adds depth to its lore within the Pokémon universe.
In the Pokémon world, Necrozma plays a pivotal role as a "pillager of light," feared in ancient times for its insatiable need to absorb light from other beings and places. This behavior has led to dramatic events, such as shrouding regions like Alola and Ultra Megalopolis in darkness. Necrozma's quest for light often brings it into conflict with other Legendary Pokémon, particularly Solgaleo and Lunala, with which it can fuse to assume its Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings forms, respectively. These fusions enhance its power significantly and enable it to open multiple Ultra Wormholes.
Necrozma's characteristics and abilities are distinct and formidable. Its primary form features a black crystalline body with numerous spikes and a brain prism that glows white when absorbing light. It can transform into Dusk Mane Necrozma (Psychic/Steel) by fusing with Solgaleo, Dawn Wings Necrozma (Psychic/Ghost) by fusing with Lunala, and Ultra Necrozma (Psychic/Dragon) when empowered by the Ultranecrozium Z. In its Ultra form, Necrozma radiates immense energy, becoming a colossal dragon-like entity. Notably, Necrozma can learn exclusive moves like Prismatic Laser and Photon Geyser and possesses the unique ability Prism Armor, which reduces the damage it takes from super-effective moves.
