Cottonee

Cottonee (Japanese: モンメン Monmen) is a dual-type Grass/Fairy Pokémon introduced in Generation V of the Pokémon series. Initially, it was a pure Grass-type Pokémon before the Fairy type was introduced in Generation VI. Cottonee evolves into Whimsicott when exposed to a Sun Stone.

Cottonee's backstory is rooted in its natural environment and evolutionary lineage. It was designed by Atsuko Nishida and made its first appearance in the Pokémon Black and White games. Cottonee and its counterpart, Petilil, share a unique connection, both evolving with the use of a Sun Stone and featuring exclusive appearances in different game versions, highlighting their intertwined destinies in the Pokémon universe.

In the Pokémon world, Cottonee is known for its role in the ecosystem and its interaction with other Pokémon. It is commonly seen being blown around by the wind due to its lightweight structure, forming large groups during mating season. Its cotton is highly valued for various uses, such as making high-quality pillows and beds. This cotton, when combined with that of Eldegoss, is used in luxury textiles, demonstrating Cottonee's significant economic contribution.

Cottonee is characterized by its white, circular body adorned with puffy, cotton-like sections and notched leaves. It possesses orange, oval-shaped eyes, and a green, star-shaped area on its back. Its abilities include using its cotton as a defensive mechanism to distract threats and ensure its escape. When wet, Cottonee becomes grounded and seeks shelter until it dries. This Pokémon's cotton regenerates quickly, maintaining its defensive capabilities and continuing its role in producing valuable materials.
