Seedot

Seedot (Japanese: タネボー Taneboh) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III of the Pokémon series. It is known for its acorn-like appearance and is categorized under the "Acorn Pokémon" species. Seedot evolves into Nuzleaf starting at level 14, which subsequently evolves into Shiftry when exposed to a Leaf Stone. This evolutionary line is a staple of the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire games and has appeared in multiple Pokémon media, including the mainline games, anime, and various spin-offs.

Seedot's backstory centers around its natural habitat and behavior. This small, brown plant Pokémon thrives in forested areas where it hangs from tree branches, absorbing moisture and nutrients from the trees. This form of sustenance continues until the Pokémon becomes too heavy and falls to the ground. Seedot has adapted this lifestyle to blend into its environment, often being mistaken for an actual acorn. This mistaken identity can either protect it from predators or facilitate its spread when taken by bird Pokémon to other locations.

In the Pokémon world, Seedot plays a role mainly as an entry-level Grass-type Pokémon. It is exclusive to Pokémon Ruby, while its counterpart Lotad is exclusive to Pokémon Sapphire, creating a complementary dynamic between the two games. Seedot can also be found in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum through the dual-slot mode using Pokémon Ruby. This Pokémon is known for its ease of capture in Pokémon Ranger, requiring only one loop, making it accessible for new trainers. Its evolutionary line requires a Leaf Stone for its final evolution, Shiftry, adding a layer of strategy for players aiming to complete their Pokédex.

Seedot possesses specific characteristics and abilities that define its role in battles and its interactions within its ecosystem. It has a beige mask-like pattern covering its large black eyes and two beige feet, with a gray cap featuring a short stem on top. This stem is used to hang from branches. Seedot polishes itself daily with leaves, and its body becomes glossier the more it absorbs nutrients. In terms of abilities, Seedot can have either Chlorophyll, which doubles its Speed in sunny weather, or Early Bird, which reduces the time it stays asleep. Despite its low base Special Defense stat, which it shares with Bellsprout and Sunkern, Seedot's evolutionary potential offers significant growth and strategic depth for trainers.
