Aron (Pokémon)

Aron (Japanese: ココドラ Cokodora) is a dual-type Steel/Rock Pokémon introduced in Generation III of the Pokémon series. It evolves into Lairon starting at level 32, and further evolves into Aggron starting at level 42. Aron is notable for its distinctive armor-like appearance and its role in various Pokémon media, including games, animated series, and merchandise.

Aron's backstory reveals that it is a Pokémon that resides in mountainous regions where it feeds on iron ore. This diet is essential for its survival and growth, as it uses the consumed ore to create and reinforce its armor. When resources are scarce, Aron is known to venture down from the mountains and consume human-made structures such as bridges and rails, which can make it a nuisance. The discarded armor from its evolution is historically significant, as it has been collected and utilized by humans for various purposes since ancient times.

In the Pokémon world, Aron plays the role of a resilient and sturdy Pokémon, often depicted in battles and as a reliable companion to trainers who appreciate its defensive capabilities. Its evolutionary line, culminating in Aggron, showcases a progression from a small and relatively simple form to a larger, more powerful and heavily armored form. This evolution mirrors its growing strength and the increasing complexity of its armor, symbolizing the transformation from a minor pest to a formidable force in the Pokémon battles.

Aron is characterized by its quadrupedal stance, stubby legs, and a large round head covered in gray armor. Its body is predominantly black, adorned with plates of armor that have small openings, including six on its head for its pale blue eyes and one on either side of the spike on its back. This spike is blunt and serves as a distinctive feature. Aron's abilities in battle are enhanced by its steel and rock typing, giving it strong defensive capabilities and resistance to several types of attacks. It is known for its powerful charge, capable of demolishing heavy objects, which reflects its strength and tenacity.
