Golem (Pokémon)

Golem (Japanese: ゴローニャ Golonya) is a dual-type Rock/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series. It evolves from Graveler when traded or exposed to a Linking Cord and is the final evolutionary form of Geodude. In the Alola region, Golem has a Rock/Electric regional form that evolves from Alolan Graveler when traded. Both forms of Golem are known for their distinct appearances and unique abilities in the Pokémon world.

Golem's backstory is rooted in its evolutionary line, starting from Geodude, a small Rock-type Pokémon that evolves into Graveler at level 25. Graveler then evolves into Golem through trading, a process that reinforces the importance of player interaction in the Pokémon games. In the Alola region, Geodude and Graveler have adapted to the local environment, resulting in Alolan Golem, which reflects the diverse habitats of the Pokémon world.

In the Pokémon universe, Golem plays a significant role as a formidable opponent in battles and a valued companion to trainers. Its Rock/Ground typing provides a strong defense against many attacks, making it a popular choice for competitive battles. Golem's ability to learn powerful moves like Earthquake and Explosion, combined with its high defense stats, makes it a reliable addition to any team. The Alolan variant, with its unique Rock/Electric typing, adds diversity and strategic options for trainers, especially in regions like Blueberry Academy's Terarium.

Golem is characterized by its boulder-like appearance, with a spherical body covered in plated green rocks, resembling a tortoise's shell. It has a flat snout, red eyes, and limbs that can retract into its shell, allowing it to roll at high speeds. Golem's body is incredibly hard, resistant to even dynamite, and it grows by shedding its skin annually. In its Alolan form, Golem features shorter forearms, a magnetically charged face that attracts iron sand, and a cannon-like structure on its back for firing electrically charged rocks. These characteristics, combined with its explosive abilities and defensive prowess, make Golem a unique and powerful Pokémon in the franchise.
