Growlithe (Japanese: ガーディ Gardie) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves into Arcanine when exposed to a Fire Stone. In the Hisui region, Growlithe has a dual-type Fire/Rock regional form, known as Hisuian Growlithe, which evolves into Hisuian Arcanine when exposed to a Fire Stone. Growlithe is characterized as the "Puppy Pokémon" and is known for its loyal and protective nature.

Growlithe has a notable backstory that is deeply rooted in human history. Archaeological findings reveal that Growlithe has had a long association with humans, with its bones discovered in Stone Age ruins. This historical connection highlights Growlithe's longstanding role as a companion and guardian.
