Zapdos (サンダー)
Zapdos is a dual-type Electric/Flying Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Along with Articuno and Moltres, Zapdos is one of the three legendary birds of Kanto. In the Galar region, it has a regional form known as Galarian Zapdos, which is a dual-type Fighting/Flying Pokémon introduced in The Crown Tundra expansion. Neither Kantonian Zapdos nor Galarian Zapdos are known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Zapdos’s backstory is steeped in mythology and lore. It is said to only appear during thunderstorms and gains power when struck by lightning. The Pokémon reportedly lives among thunderclouds, making its sightings rare and often accompanied by massive storms. Its presence is associated with causing thunderstorms, and it releases electricity with every flap of its wings, producing thunderous sounds.
In the Pokémon world, Zapdos plays a significant role as a guardian of the skies and a symbol of powerful natural forces. As one of the three legendary birds, it is often sought after by Pokémon trainers due to its rarity and strength. The Galarian form of Zapdos, on the other hand, is known for its belligerent nature and constant search for stronger opponents. It migrates across the world, occasionally seen in the Crown Tundra, where it congregates with the other legendary birds.
Zapdos is characterized by its striking yellow plumage, spiky feathers, and electric abilities. Its wings and tail are adorned with black feathers, and it has a large crest of spiked feathers around its head. The Galarian Zapdos, with its red-orange and black plumage, differs in appearance and abilities, focusing more on its powerful legs and devastating kicks, capable of destroying large objects.
