Zekrom
Zekrom (Japanese: ゼクロム Zekrom) is a dual-type Dragon/Electric Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V of the Pokémon series. It is known for its distinctive black coloration and powerful electric abilities. As a Legendary Pokémon, Zekrom does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon. It serves as the game mascot for Pokémon White and is a member of the Tao trio alongside Reshiram and Kyurem, playing a significant role in the lore of the Unova region.
In the mythology of the Unova region, Zekrom is described as siding with the younger of two brothers who sought ideals, while its counterpart, Reshiram, sided with the elder brother who pursued truth. The legends state that Zekrom and Reshiram were once a single powerful dragon that split into two due to the brothers' conflicting ideologies. Zekrom's embodiment of ideals is a central theme in its lore, and it is believed to annihilate kingdoms that have lost righteousness. Zekrom can transform into the Dark Stone under certain conditions and can be awakened by a hero who believes in ideals.
Zekrom plays a significant role in the Pokémon world, particularly in the Unova region's narrative. It is prominently featured in Pokémon White, where players encounter and capture it as part of the main storyline. Zekrom can also fuse with Kyurem using the DNA Splicers to form Black Kyurem, combining aspects of both Pokémon. This fusion enhances its power and adds to its versatility in battles. Zekrom is revered for its might and its deep connection to the forces of nature, particularly thunderstorms.
Zekrom is a large, black, bipedal Pokémon with a dragon-like appearance. It has a thundercloud-like crest on its head and a tail that resembles an electricity generator, which lights up when it enters Overdrive mode. This tail produces energy for its attacks and allows it to fly. Zekrom's abilities include generating powerful electrical attacks and creating anti-gravity fields. It is the only Pokémon capable of learning the move Bolt Strike by leveling up, and it can also learn Fusion Bolt, a move it shares with Black Kyurem. These abilities make Zekrom one of the most formidable Electric-type Pokémon in the series.
