Backstory
Mawile's design is inspired by the Japanese legend of the futakuchi-onna, a woman with a mouth at the back of her head. This mythological connection is reflected in Mawile's appearance, which features a pair of large, powerful jaws extending from the back of its head. These jaws are actually transformed steel horns, which Mawile uses to capture and defeat its prey. Mawile typically inhabits caves, where it uses its seemingly non-threatening appearance to lure and deceive its enemies before attacking with its powerful jaws.
