Nidorina is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Nidoran♀ starting at level 16 and evolves into Nidoqueen when exposed to a Moon Stone. It is a quadrupedal, sky-blue mammalian Pokémon with dark-blue patches, red eyes, large, spiny ears, and two pointed teeth protruding from its upper jaw. Nidorina is a female-only species and is known to be a caring mother that chews food for its young.

Nidorina is a gentle Pokémon that prefers not to fight, but if forced or enraged, it prefers physical attacks such as clawing and biting. It also emits ultrasonic cries to befuddle foes. Nidorina is known to display close family bonds with others of its kind and becomes nervous when separated. It lives in burrows at hot savannas and plains, and it prefers to chew its food into a paste before spitting it out and feeding its children.

In the Pokémon world, Nidorina is unable to breed, unlike its unevolved form, Nidoran♀. Despite this, several of Nidorina's Pokédex entries imply that it is still capable of childrearing. It evolves into Nidoqueen, and it is the only two Pokémon that cannot breed even though their unevolved form can breed.

Nidorina draws inspiration from rabbits, porcupines, and rhinos, with aspects of venomous mammals. It may also reference the mythical Moon rabbit due to its rabbit-like appearance and the fact that it reaches its final evolved form using a Moon Stone. The name Nidorina may be a combination of needle, rhinoceros, and -ina (feminine diminutive suffix in Spanish and Italian), as well as involving the word 二度 nido (twice).
