Parasect
Parasect (Japanese: パラセクト Parasect) is a dual-type Bug/Grass Pokémon introduced in Generation I of the Pokémon series. It evolves from Paras starting at level 24. Parasect is notable for its unique appearance, dominated by a large mushroom that has overtaken its body. The mushroom's influence plays a significant role in Parasect's behavior and abilities.

Parasect's backstory is rooted in its evolution from Paras. Upon reaching level 24, Paras evolves into Parasect, marking a significant transformation. The parasitic mushroom on its back, known as tochukaso, fully takes over Paras's body during this evolution. This transformation results in the insect being completely drained of nutrients and controlled by the mushroom. This parasitic relationship defines Parasect's existence, with the mushroom being the dominant force.
In the Pokémon world, Parasect primarily inhabits dark forests, thriving in environments with sufficient humidity for fungal growth. It is known to form swarms that infest and drain the nutrients from trees, eventually causing them to die. These swarms then move on to new trees to continue their parasitic activity. Parasect has been depicted in conflicts with other mushroom-based Pokémon, such as Shiinotic, over territory. Prior to Generation III, its signature move was Spore, a powerful move that causes opponents to fall asleep.
Parasect is characterized by its orange, insectoid body, largely hidden by the red-capped mushroom with yellow spots. Its physical features include a small head with white eyes and segmented legs, with the foremost pair forming large pincers. The mushroom's control over Parasect is so profound that removing it renders Parasect immobile. Parasect's abilities are closely tied to its fungal nature, with moves like Spore and the Effect Spore ability. This ability can cause various status conditions when an opponent makes contact with Parasect. Overall, Parasect's unique combination of bug and fungal traits makes it a distinctive and memorable Pokémon in the series.
