Terapagos

Introduction Terapagos (Japanese: テラパゴス Terapagos) is a Normal-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation IX, featured in The Indigo Disk. This Pokémon does not evolve into or from any other Pokémon and has three distinct forms: Normal Form, Terastal Form, and Stellar Form. Terapagos plays a significant role in the game and appears prominently in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

Backstory Terapagos was discovered by the explorer Heath, who named it. It was initially believed to be extinct, having been caught in seismic shifts around two million years ago. However, a single Terapagos survived by crystallizing its body and going into hibernation in the Area Zero Underdepths. This Pokémon's existence was confirmed by Briar, who detailed her findings in "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" after an expedition in the same area.

Role in the Pokémon World Terapagos serves as the game mascot of The Indigo Disk and is central to the storyline of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. It is responsible for the Terastal phenomenon, which allows Pokémon to crystallize and change types during battle. Terapagos' power also supports advanced technologies like Tera Orbs and the professor's AI copy, and it has a profound influence on the ecosystem and technological advancements within the Pokémon world.

Characteristics and Abilities In its Normal Form, Terapagos resembles a small indigo tortoise with a hexagonal shell marked by the Terastal symbol. When in danger or entering battle, it transforms into its Terastal Form, gaining a larger, sturdier shell made of crystallized Terastal energy. Upon Terastallizing, Terapagos achieves its Stellar Form, a powerful state where it glows with a rainbow-colored aura and exhibits enhanced abilities, including altering timelines and producing powerful star-shaped projectiles. Terapagos is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Tera Starstorm and possesses unique abilities such as Tera Shift and Tera Shell.
