About Zygarde

Zygarde (Japanese: ジガルデ Zygarde) is a dual-type Dragon/Ground Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. Notably, Zygarde does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon. It has three distinct forms: 10% Forme, 50% Forme, and Complete Forme. Zygarde's forms are constructed from Zygarde Cores and Zygarde Cells. The Cores act as the brains, while the Cells are non-sentient and are stored inside a Zygarde Cube. The different components and forms of Zygarde were first introduced in Pokémon X and Y and later expanded upon in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Zygarde's backstory is deeply rooted in its role as a guardian of the planet's ecosystem. Zygarde Cores and Cells monitor the environment, maintaining balance and order. Introduced in Pokémon X and Y, Zygarde 50% Forme was the first to appear, with its 10% and Complete Formes revealed later. In the Pokémon anime, particularly in the XY&Z arc, Zygarde played a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, highlighting its significance beyond the games. Its vigilance over the ecosystem places it in direct opposition to its counterparts, Xerneas and Yveltal, often referred to collectively as the Aura trio.

In the Pokémon world, Zygarde serves as a protector of nature, intervening only when the ecosystem is in grave danger. Its presence ensures the equilibrium between life and death, countering the abilities of Xerneas and Yveltal. Zygarde is known for its ability to gather the energy of the land and focus it on its foes. It can divide its cells temporarily to use them as weapons, demonstrating a unique combat style. Typically, Zygarde remains out of sight, emerging only when necessary to combat significant threats, such as the conflicts between Xerneas and Yveltal or invasions by Ultra Beasts.

Zygarde's characteristics and abilities are tied to its forms. The 10% Forme resembles a canine and is known for its speed and agility in close combat. The 50% Forme, serpentine in shape, is more defensive and monitors the ecosystem from deep within caves. The Complete Forme, a humanoid entity, is the most powerful, capable of using its Cores independently and harnessing immense energy to restore balance. Zygarde can learn unique moves like Land's Wrath, Thousand Arrows, Thousand Waves, and Core Enforcer, and possesses the Abilities Aura Break and Power Construct, which further emphasize its role as a guardian and balancer of nature.
